Planning on dropping through there in march or April and need any tips you may have in terms of what ramp to use, baits, colors, etc.  I'm a shallow jig pitching kinda guy so I'm hoping no one says the words crank and bait together although I'll wing it if I have to.:o

Jigs work well usually on Caddo! Cranks do to. But around that time, is the spawn. I like using softplastics either weightless or 1/16 oz weight for bed fish.

We'll be on the back side of the spawn and it will be wide open. You'll catch fish on just about anything you want too. Swimming a lizard around the trees on flats will catch you big numbers of fish. Moving a little deeper and working that jig of yours will put some big fish in the boat.

Depending on where you're going to stay will depend on which ramp you'll use. Texas or Louisiana.

Let me know a week or so before you arrive and I'll show you around if you like. I read that you like to shallow jig, you'll like Caddo. Bring a few (1/4 to 1/2 oz.) Black/Blue, Black/Red Flake, Black/Brown/Amber, Brown/Orange, Green Pumpkin and Watermelon/Red Flake with your favorite trailers and you'll have a blast. Some of the plastic baits that work well are worms, lizards, flukes, senkos, craws, and tubes. Rat-L-Traps, Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits, Jerkbaits, Swimbaits, Frogs and Square Bill Cranks all work well also. Have jigs, plastics, buzzbaits, Frogs and Rat-L-Traps at the top of your list around end of March into April.

Wow, thanks for the offer!  That's a couple people that have offered to show me around now!  Are the grass mats plentiful that time of year?  Wondering if I should bring my punch rod.

We have had one of the worst drought's that this area has seen in years. What the lake will look like around March or April is really up in the air right now, but there is always grass. The best I can tell you is to keep an eye on Louisiana Fishing Reports here to know what techniques are working.
