OK so here in my part of oregon im sitting on a goldmine of bassfishing. heres little story, long time ago there was a volcanic eruption that threw a big flow of magma right across the path of a small mountain river. Forming a natural dam, this lake for years was a hidden gold mine for bull trout. and it was strictly managed as a flyfishing only lake, for trophy bulls. Over the course of time the resident tsui chub, a Oregon native became so prolific that the bull trout (a fish eating species) couldnt keep up with the population of tsuis. the flyfishing only lake was a mass of chubs. Then the bass got in, the perfectly round, shallow (22foot max) 3000 acre. most shallow weed beds and lava piles. these bass hit a huge population of food. It was like a buffet line of chubs. Since it was a flyfishing only lake and the trout snobs wouldnt touch the bass the population and average size grew. as it stands right now the chubs are getting fewer. The State uses Davis as a Bass breeding ground. Netting thousands of spawning bass and transplanting them across the state. Local fisherman (who are gonna kill me for talking about this online) have had 30 fish days of 3 to 7 pound bass. Mostly on large poppers and Deer hair leeches. Its a great chance for someone to practice or learn Flyfishing for bass in an Untouched bass paradise.... And OMG do i want my regular gear on that lake!

This sounds like a bass fisherman's dream. I've only done some small amounts of fly fishing but it's a blast and I couldn't imagine a large bass on a fly rod, that would truly be amazing.....

Yes it is a dream, And most of the locals want to keep it a secret. But im sharing it with my bass fishing community. trying to find some of the pictures we took on Crane Prairie reservoir, Wickiup Reservoir and Davis Lake.
