The problem I am having with it is, I was out fishing one day and I bumped a stump getting small chunks of wood to get into my L/U causing my overheating alarm to sound off. I took it home pulled the foot off of it and ran water through everything.Still as soon as i get it on plane the buzzer comes on not allowing me to go anywhere. Next thing I am doing is replacing the waterpump and the housing that comes with it. Should I also pull the heads just to see if any passages are blocked? things I have done....It is a 2000 V-max 225 model number is vx225trly

1) pulled the foot off and and made sure it was all fine
2) took poppit valve out ran clean water through it.
3) replaced fuel pump relay $254.00 thought it fixed it until yesterday
What would you guys suggest I do next?

Stupid question first; are you sure it's the overheat alarm and not the low oil alarm? Not sure on the Hammer but Merc's overheat is a steady tone where the low oil is a beeping.

How soon after starting, with the engine cold, does the alarm go off now? If it's right away it sounds like you've got a shorted wire as it shouldn't go off that quick. Is water coming out of the pee hole and is it a strong stream?

Have you checked the thermostats and ensured they are opening correctly? Pull them out and set them in a pot of hot water to see if they open up. You also might find some wood wedged in around them that is keeping them colsed.

Well its a constant buzz. It starts just after it gets on plane then i have to let it cool down then the buzzer goes off, then the it will keep repeating that all day. Yes its getting great water pressure, its peeing just fine.

Then I'm guessing it's something stuck in or around the thermostats. Since pressure is good it sounds like everything on the LU is in good shape.

You were right I hope it's fixed now,I took both thermostats out ans ran water through the manifold and allot of grass and sand came out. I will let you know if it's fixed or not. Plan on taking it out for a trial run this Saturday. Thanks for the help i really do appreciate it.

if you sucked up that amount of grass and sand a new pump would be a good idea. probably some scoring in the cup and plate.
