mothernature,
We have some mild winters around here in West Central Alabama and we get to fish just about year round. I have got into some very hot action during Nov., Dec. and January. Now it may be hybrid stripes, catfish, crappie or bass but, at least we can go catch some species of fish just about year round. My favorite sport is catching crappie, after about 45 years of chasing them I'm pretty darn good at it. I can go catch a mess just about anytime of the year. I used to do the bass tournament thing when I was younger but, I gave it up. I still bass fish when I can but I spend most of my time chasing crappie. We have a 30 per person limit here where I live with a 9" minumum length and there are plenty of them around here. To me, the crappie is one of the best eating fish out of fresh water, I hear walleyes are good but, there are none here in the south where I live but, if I ever retire I may have to go where they are and catch some myself just to see if they do indeed eat good.

I fish for them all! I live in central VA right now and I have access to the Chesapeake bay and the ocean and I can be in the mountains in a couple of hours and stalk brook trout with my 2wt fly rod. In the Bay, I chase stripers, flounder, red and black drum, cobia, bluefish, and spannish mackeral. Here at home, I fish for smallmouth above the fall line of the James river, largemouth in the tidal James, spotted bass, blue and flathead catfish, bluegill, stripers, and shad in the spring. We sure have alot of different options..there is always something biting and all kinds of ways to pursue the fish we love. :)
Fishing for everything that swims across the country!
