B.A.S.S. Legends Tourney

I've said for sometime now,  how I'd like to see BASS do a legends tourney. 

Just a 1 day tourney with all the senior legends of the sport,  like Bobby Murray, Hank Parker, Bill Dance, Guido Hibdon, and many many more.  The format could include some story telling.  Some of the old pranks these guys use to pull are great.  I love the stories.  Many of these guys are getting up in there years and NOW is the time to honor them for their contributions and make a record of their stories before they move on. 

So I saw a clip from ICAST and Jerry McGinnis and Bill Dance said they were going to have a Legends tourney during the Toyota Tundra All Star week.  Yet - I haven't found anything more on it.  Sure would be nice for them to do a full televised show on it. 

Anyone know anything about it and if there will be coverage?

I haven't seen anything on it but I've had trouble this year keeping up with BASS for some reason  I learn more from you all than their media outlet

I would love to see this but in the heat of the summer may not be the best time. Mid October which is off season would be safer.

It would be cool for a no hold back "the way it was" kind of event. Where they could go out and have fun with it. Fly them to a safe Mexico lake

Yeah - the heat wave will make the fishing rough and uncomfortable for these guys.  Yeah - fall would be perfect.

Another issue is - which guys to invite?  Does Clunn get an invite?  Who should be invited?  What criteria should be used to decide?

That's a tough one? 

Clunn is definitely a Legend to the sport but he's still fishing?  I'd have to say that it would be non current competitors.  Or you could biuld in a handicap like bowling

Theres a piece in Bassfan and B.A.S.S. this morning  .

The Bassmaster Legends Tournament will take place 31 July in Montgomery Ala.  The article indicated they will be fishing a private lake.  Ray Scott owns a bunch private lakes in and around Montgomery so I would think that it would be on one of his properties>(the article didn't mention this its just my thoughts) 

The team pairings are 

Jerry McKinnis and Bill Dance
Guido Hibdon and Bobby Murray
Guy Eaker and Ken Cook
Rick Clunn and Tommy Martin

Yeah,  saw that on BASS this morning.  Hope it gets some coverage.  I would love to be a camerman in the boat with Dance and McGinnis.  Sure to be some funny tales.
