Hey i've been doing this the last few weeks, Don't really know if it is necessary but figured  I'd post it anyways. I've been doing a bit of punching and was worried about the heavy weight slamming into my knot my damage or loosen it. So instead of using just one bobber/weight stopper i use two. One to keep the weight from sliding and one under the weight to protect the knot. Haven't notice a real difference as I am punching with 50lb braid and don't get many break-offs, but it could help in lighter applications and with mono or flouro line.

You can use a bead and make hole big enough to slide over knot.

Ive been doing it for a long time but my reason was at any time I want a carolina type rig i can peg the weight anywhere on line easily ;D

Interesting technique ... I will give that a try the next time I am out fishing ... I'm sure my father-in-law will be giving me his worried concerned look and probably ask me if the heat is getting to me; but hey it's worth a shot!

lo He wont when your pulling in bass    I was tx rigging a trick worm one evening and I had the weight where it would move and couldnt get a bite. So I pegged the weight at the hook and still no bite. SO then I moved the top peg up about 14 inches pushed the weight up to it moved the bottom peg up there to weight so I had a pegged weight about 14 inches up the line cast the same trick worm to the same spots and caught a bass on first cast. Its a neat thing tho have rigged cause you can do something totally different in a few seconds.
