I was wondering if anyone has used the Dobyns 704cb glass rods for small topwater poppers, flukes, and shallow diving crankbaits? I am considering buying this rod but would like to know everyones overall opinions and uses of this rod. Thanks in advance. :help:

I don't have that exact rod but I do have several Dobyns and love them all. My crankbait rod is the 764 CB RM and it works great for shallow, medium and deep divers. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any dobyns.

Thanks for your response, I have several Dobyns rods currently and I am looking to add to the arsenal. I love all of my current Dobyns rods but was wanting some help choosing a rod that would be great for throwing light lures on, I would prefer to stay with a baitcaster as that is what I am most comfortable throwing. I was hoping to find a rod that would be effective a throwing small poppers, flukes, and shallow diving cranks. Surely there are others out there with some great suggestions. Thanks

Not sure I'd use the 4 power for rouges or rapala top water baits, however for poppers, prop baits and walking baits it will be fantastic. You should really love it over all. I don't know if you have used any of the glass rods but it's amazing that they are as light if not lighter than the standard rods.  Dobyns has figured out a molding process that is fantastic and gives great action and control of a fish hooked on treble hooks. :toot:
