I bought a abu garcia revo stx-hs at BPS and it doesn't cast very well I adjusted everything on it but it still will not cast very far. I changed the line from braid to mono still no difference. This weekend it would make a noise when casting it so I decided to to take it back and exchange it at BPS. They told me that they only have a 30 day in store return policy even though the warranty states 1 year  and that I would have to send it back abu garcia to get it replaced. I told them that I paid $199.99 and thought they should do an over the counter replacement but they refused to even with the manager there. I know if I would have bought it at Academy they would have replaced it with no questions asked, now I have to send it back to Abu garcia and hope to get it back in 2 months. So I guess what I am trying to say is if you are going to buy a reel I would think about the 30 day over the counter from BPS and would buy from a store with with a better exchange policy.

That does suck. I broke a veritas rod and took it back no questions asked but I think it was in the 30 days. Academy does have the better returns deal on who you talk to there. Hopefully Abu will get it back to you and good luck

Hmm, I took a Winch back that I had for a few months. They didn't question anything, just took it. Maybe they are getting strict on their policies.

I have dealt with BPS for 35 years and never had that kind of problem. maybe they have changed their policy.
I don't mind not knowing all the answers, but I keep forgeting the danged questions.

I think at least from what I understand BPS has a one year for BPS items, most anything else it's 30 days unless the company in question & BPS has something worked out like Shimano rods.

Guys they have been getting real strict on there returns due to people taking advantage of them. I got a friend that works there and he told me make sure u know what u want if it aint bps cause they enforce 30 day rule hard now. Its not justr ours but all them from what I've read

Don't ask me if I work there cause I won't answer that but honestly that policy has always been in place. I will say that sometimes it depends on who you deal with. I know what I would have done in your case but I can't speak for the others. I have seen some ridiculous returns, even though it doesn't come out of my pocket, it does irritate me to see people take advantage of anything they can. If you call Abu Garcia, they may hook you up with a regional rep that can assist you........just sayin!

Just a thought, Have you tried calling the BPS customer servie phone number. I have been able to get Things accomplished through them that the stores are unwilling to do.

I called Abu Garcia and they said to send the reel to them and they would get it back to me in 5 to 10 days so thats what i'm going to do.
