Black blade spinner for River Smallies

I was told this was a great lure w a black skirt w a trace of chartruse - for fishing Smallies in a clear river,  what do you guys think?  Thanks

one of my favorite spinnerbaits is a 1/2 ounce Terminator T-1...in black with a #5 gold blade..catch them (LMB) in clear water, in dirty water...and at all times of the day...  black works...and I like the 'big thumper'...even in clear water...

I'm guessing it'll work great for you ... please post up results!

Riverside, I have a lot of success with black lures in all types of conditions. Fact is, black, white & chartreuse are the colors I've had the most success with, in lures, and flies, and for many different species. For river fishing, and Smallmouths I particularly like black on overcast days, but it works on bright days too. I agree with the others, try it & see for yourself!

Black is the best for river smallmouth , constantly outfishes everything . I love the 1/2 oz Secret Weapons pro assasinator with a double black skirt and two number 4 black colorado blades .

This spinner bait you speak of works very well with twin gold willow blades. I have a few customer. I make this spinner bait for also black with copper flake & a few strands of red and medium blue is another good smallie combo in clear lakes twin silver willows.

I cut my teeth on river smallies in PA's Susquehanna River.  My most productive bait (before moving up to tubes with the "big boys") was a 1/8 oz jig head rigged with a black/yellow striped twin straight tail grub.  Other colors (pumpkin being my next most productive in those waters) worked but not as well for sheer quantity as that black/yellow did.

The round ball jig and a twin tail is still one of my fav baits for Lake st clair smallies. I knock them stupid one it watermelon twin tail and black round ball jig. Love em
