I've been taking my children out still fishing for trout the last couple days and we've been skunked both times. People around us are catching fish, so I know there's fish in the lakes we went to. Being new to fishing I'm thinking there's something I'm missing. So here I am looking for tips on rigging as well as what kinds of baits to use. Thanks for the help.

I know here in Southern Az Berkly power bait, Corn, rainbow, cheese. Its hit and miss if your are going to take them home to eat then Whole kernel Corn works great Also try Salmon eggs.

With the power bait it floats try experimenting with differnt depths. I start out at bout 1 ft then adjust from there, BUt that depends on the area i am fishing and whats on the botom..

I use a light spinning Rod 6lb test mono and light weights just enough to cast.........

I have also used a trout set up from all mart( cant remember name) it has 2 hooks with wire to hold hooks away from main line, use differnt baits on each hook..

Hope this helps.............

a 4'-5'5" spinning rod with 2-6lb test ( i use 4 and have never had problems) with a size 10 (go smaller if you can find em you want to hide the hook) circle hook and one small spit shot about 18-24 in above the hook.  wax worms/powerbait can never go wrong with those.  it's much easier to cast downstream and let the bait sink and just slowly jig it back and let it naturally fall.  trout ambush bait so the bite is very quick.

Thanks for the tips guys. Taking the little ones out after the fourth crowds clear, I'll let you know how it goes.

If the baits like corn, cheese, powerbait do not work try getting ahold of super dupers, mepps agila spinner size 1-2 i prefer figetiger color.
