Got an arbogas mudbug today from a fellow angler. Anybody ever heard of it and is it rare? Just looking for some information.

I have a few of them. Don't think they have been out of production very long. You can still find them on ebay sometimes.
I don't mind not knowing all the answers, but I keep forgeting the danged questions.

They were pretty popular back in the mid 70's.  I have few of them that are collecting dust in the tackle box.

Is it wood or plastic?

I find them to be productive in cold murky water ;)

I have several still and they are still productive. They are a favorite on one of the larger lakes here in Southern Illinois. It's almost a forgotten lure by most.

I agree with that. I used to catch some good fish on them then just forgot about them. The ones I have are plastic with a metal bill.

Back when my grandfather fished Toledo Bend religiously he said those things were a staple and "must have" out there...You really can't find them around here any more since they have not been made in a while...A local store here in town gets some used ones in and I think he repaints them and sells them, but for a good penny...I know lots of people still catch fish on them, as my grandfather won't even let me use the ones he's got  lo

I have a couple and man they will wear you out!  I use them on lakes where you can't run a gas motor.  Use the TM to troll behind you when running around the lake.  Busted some 5+ pounders.

Funny you should post this.  I sent an email a while back, and asked them why they stopped production.  Havnt heard from them yet, but sure would love some new ones.  THe ones I have are pretty old, but I love the mudbug.  I fish regular cranks the same way they run a lot of the time.  In other words, if the water is 6 foot deep, ill run a crankbait that runs 10 feet deep, so it digs hard into the bottom, just like a Mudbug.  Jim

You know Catt Im glad you quoted me so I could catch this on my mobile...My G-PA said they did not make those anymore...My mistake, but I just walked out the door from Academy Sports and Outdoors...Not a tag for a Mud Bug on the shelf...I also just downloaded their product catalogue and I couldnt find it in there either...It's on their website in "How to use" but offers no option to purchase like their other lures...
