Travis Merritt reports Up and Coming Outdoors kicked off the 2011 Tuesday Afternoon Bass Tournaments on the Calcasieu River March 22 at Parkside Marina.  The weather was beautiful but a little windy when teams took to the water at 4:45 PM.  All but two teams weighed in fish at 8:00 PM but big fish were few and far between. 

The winning team of David Rabalais and Robert Weemes brought 9.54 pound limit of bass to the scales.  Their bag included a 3.33 pounder which won big bas of the tournament.  Rab and Weemes reported catching their fish on a Bass Kandi slim stick and a Bass Kandi speedbug both in watermelon red.  Robert did mention that one of the fish was caught on a Stanley spinnerbait. 

The second place team of John and Chris Louviere had five bass weighing 6.93 lbs.  Team Louviere reported catching their fish on a 1/4 ounce Cyclone Classic spinnerbait in chart. and white. 

Rodney Owens and Craig Winkle took third place honors with 6.76 lbs.  Like Rab and Weemes, Owens and Winkle caught their fish on baits from Bass Kandi.  Team O and W used slim sticks and brush hogs in red bug and junebug.

Kevin and Willard Booty won the trash fish pot with a 3.72 lbs choupique.
