What do you guys typically use with a shakey head jig? Ive used a senko, and a ribbon tail worm with great success, but have been thinking about using other plastics.  What do you think about using a frog, or even a soft plastic swimbait during and after the spawn. maybee mimicking a bait fish or frog on the hunt for eggs and fry, working them in and around the beds. Thoughts?

Funny you bring up the frog. Up north in the fall there is a sudden flurry of frog activity in the fall as they head out into the lake to curl up in the mud for the winter. When the frog run starts bass, walleye, northern and muskie all line up to enjoy a feast. A jig with a frog imitation is a killer at this time. Don't know about the frog situation here in the south but up north the fall frog run was a great time of  year for the setup you're talking about.

I use a Zoom Trick worm or Zoom Finesse worm.  I'd say a frog would be way to bulky to use on that little hook.  Some of the smaller hollow body SB's would possibly work though.

Some people use chiggar craws, with or withor crazy legs.  I know some guys use brush hogs also.

-In theory you can use a lot of things....

I primarily use straight tail worms, but venture to use the crazy legs chiggar craw in the near future, but I usually drop shot it...

I like to use Zoom finesse worms and Reaction Innovations Flirt 4.95's. But I have used other plastics like ribbon tail worm, curly tail grubs.

I really like the two tail GY grubs.  I've put them on all kinds of heads with great success.  I've even removed the skirts from spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and those blakemore thunder crappie jigs and put the grub in its place.

I thought about trying the gulp minnows.

I like using the Big Bite Baits Squirell Tail in junebug rigged on a Picasso Shakedown 1/8oz.

I also had a mold made so I could use number 5 hooks in my shaky heads so I can use lizards on them for bedding fish, paint the head orange so you can see it and you're ready to go ;)

I also like the Picasso Shakedown shakey head jigs. I mostly use Roboworm Strait Tail worms on them. They just flat out catch fish for me.

I use the trick, finesse and tricky tail worms from zoom most of the year. If they are bedding I like to use a lizard

FATFLATTIE

That shakedown head is great for smaller hand poured worms.  I love that small screw.  Since I mainly use Zoom worms a SK shakey head works for me.  I just use the Robo worms on a finesse T-rig when I use them.

A lot of plastics can be fished on shakey heads.  I like fishing worms, grubs, craws, and spider grubs on shakey heads.  Almost anything you can think of can be fished on a shakey head.  Who knows, you might even discover a new hot technique while expirementing.

I usually use a Roboworm or Zoom Finesse worm.

Worms are solid of course, but experimenting can really pay off. Next time you're out, give it a try. Just might have yourself a "secret" weapon.

WES

I use the net bait paca chunk and a zoom finnesse worm on a shakeyhead.

Siebert Outdoors

I typically use a5.5" pointy tail worm or a hand pour that looks like a robo worm.

JaxBasser

Zoom trick or finesse worms. Junebug is my go to color. I've also had luck using creature baits like the baby brush hog or sweet beaver on a shakey head.
