I started making a scent awhile back and have had alot of luck with it and was wondering if anyone else had tried to make their own. I may put it out for sale after a few people I gave some to have asked for more and have bragged on it.

mine is an oil based scent that softens the plastic slightly which gives a natural texture to plastics. It has a strong garlic scent and it lasts all day long. The oils and materials I use are natural food based oils that also give the bait flavor. The downside is that it takes a degreaser like mean green to get it off the boat when it spills. So far Garlic is the only scent I have I'm working on a coffee and others to try out.

I have a garlic based scent I bought (I think it is called Kickin' Bass)... and then I have played around with storing a few in used coffee grounds which I will be trying this spring...

I have decided to market it. I call it DEVOUR. I am offering 2 prostaff spots to members of this board to be decided in a few weeks. see post in sponsor connection for more information.

I thought this board would be for sharing tackle making projects, not just talking about scents and not discussing how and what ingredients are used.

Mine is a simple water-based method that penetrates the plastics well and works as well.  I take two rounded tablespoons garlic powder and stir that into two cups hot tapwater.  I stir well and then add 1/2 teaspoon sea salt and stir that as well.
Now, open your soft plastics baggies and pour some of the mix into each.
Re-seal the baggies, and mush each about a little to be certain all the baits come in contact with the liquid.  Now fill the sink or a pail with hot tapwater and float the baggies for a half hour.  Reopen each baggie at the end of the half hour and drain off the extra liquid.  This will leave small bits of garlic powder still sticking to the lures......reseal the baggies....you are good to go. The residual garlic will wash off on first use and in the meantime bleeds flavor into the lures.
Should you leave too much liquid in a baggie, during the course of a summer, it will assuredly mold.  If this happens, rinse the baggie and lures in cold water and drain.
Then sprinkle with a tad of fresh garlic powder and reseal.
As some have mentioned earlier in this thread, using hot water would accomodate a shot of instant coffee as well should that be your intention.
