Humminbird 595C and Hotmaps

Little confused.  The boat I bought has a Humminbird 595C at the console.  I've got the Navionics Hotmaps Premium.
When I talked to Navionics they recomend against saving waypoints to thier chip but, to use another MMC card. 
Question is how would I go about that?  When you insert the Navionics card does it load all of the map data to the bird? 
Guess it comes down to how/when would you swap the cards?

The GPS Data: Waypoints, Tracks and Routes are saved in the internal memory of the unit. To retrieve this data you need remove map card and insert blank SD card and 'Export all Nav" Data.
