Just curious.  I have been stocking my bayou behind the house with close to 100 bass between 1.5 - 6 pounds and good 3-4lb average (alot of them full of eggs) over the last 3 weeks.  Seems I have a good supply of small crawfish as I can see them scurry from the bank when I walk down to the water, small minnows and at night the bank is lined with very large bullfrogs.  I saw several last night with spotlight that would go up to 1lb; can a bass digest one that big?  If so my fish will have plenty to eat and get huge.

Id say yes if the bass is big enough. A bass will try to eat anything alive it can get its mouth around.

You betcha!  A 4 lb. bass can easily eat a 1 lb. frog.  I've seen them take baby ducks over 1 lb. on my lake.
Retired after 34 yrs. with Jacksonville P.D.  Now I have time to hunt and fish!

Well, I've seen 4-5 pounders eat birds of of low limbs lo

Most definitely. Unfortunate for the frog it is very soft and can be crammed into a very small hole. So all a bass has to do is get it in it's mouth and it's throat will do the rest :-*

side note: Laurie's wanting to hit that pond :-* :-*

I caught one yesterday that if I was thinking straight I should have brought to your pond....

Will be in Dallas until tomorrow evening.  We will take her one evening this coming week for sure.  Went yesterday with Kuntry jr and the wind  was killing us only caught 20 or so no real size.  Had one come completely out of the water and attacked my buzzbait from above (coolest thing I have ever seen).  Also appears that I had some kids or homeless camping there this last weekend, they broke the carry handles off my bass hunter to remove the chain and had both my boats on the other side of the pond and took down one of my ground blinds to use as a tent.  Trash all over the bank of the pond.  I'm pissed and if they are caught many people will feel sorry for what happens to them.  Can still fish out of boat so at least they did not steal it or sink it YET!

Just amazing what people will do. Seems like I'm always in town in the evenings. Gonna have to help spot check it with Spy Goggles :-*

Judge, you might want to consider a trail cam or two (well hidden). Contact the local PD and let them know what happened and you are going to put out trail cams. Thats just not right.

Already called the Sheriff since technically outside city limits.  Putting up trailcams Monday and going to bush hog path around pond for fast atv access to check on spot regularly.  Caught the guys who were hunting in there during hunting season, will eventually catch these guys as well.

DBrooke

Sounds like you already have it planned out lo

Things like this are the reason it's hard to gain access from landowners to use private ponds out here. Much less trying to get hunting grounds.

Whatever they get, they will deserve.  But, you will have to recuse yourself from that case  ;)

Id say either way those huge frogs will make a ton of baby's that can def get eatin for sure..

How far away is the pond from your house? DO you have neighbors?

I think a few big outside dogs could do the trick......... Thats what I would do.

Ponds about 2 miles right behind major shopping center, but hidden by trees.  Just have to be diligent about checking on

I used to have a few bass as pets (sorry) it was when i was younger but was still really neet.  I could feed a 6" long crawfish to a 8" bass.  It would swallow as much of the crawfish as it could, wait for the back half to dijest, then swallow the rest.  Dont get the wrong idea, i did not starve these fish.  They were extreemly well taken care of.  there were always shinners or feeder gold fish in the large tank.  I think they prefered crawfish and worms though.
