hello everyone, im new here, so let me say hello and thanks for having me. I just started painting crankbaits about two months ago. I love to do it, but, I would really like others opinions on my baits. Please give me some guidance on what colors to paint, and what i could do better. I appreciate all the help, Troy

Troy...very nice work!

One of the colors I think is a 'trigger' is that 'butter/cream' yellow that is almost orange on the belly/breast of bluegill...at least most of the 'immature' bluegill that make up the basic forage around here...

Orange is great...it signifies a spawning bluegill around/about the time of the bass spawn...but most of the year, that yellow color is more typical...and then there's the 'light lemon yellow/purple/silver' color that 'gills get during winter/spring cold water periods..

A guy could give those folks who tie 'realistic' flies for trout a good run for their money in terms of looking at various color phases of forage species...

Look foward to you sharing more of your outstanding work...

That looks great!  ~shade

If you're looking for new colors to paint, try using the same basic pattern with different color combinations.  For example, you could paint the sides blue instead of green, or use lighter or darker shades of the colors already on there.
