Hi guys I just bought my first bass boat its a Nitro NX750 with a 90 Merc on it.  the boat came with a lowrance X47Tx at the console i am not wanting this finder and want to upgrade at the console and add one at the bow.  I wanting a SI/DI at the bow and have been looking at the Humminbird 798CI.  But not sure what to put at the console I know I want to have GPS at the console..  Can you please help me make a decision..

I would go with humming bird

I'd go with a Lowrance   ;D >:D

don't think you can go wrong either way...but here's what I do think:
Side imaging is really helpful to me in scanning water and eliminating water...to me this is best done at slower speeds at the console...using the big engine...  DI would be 'okay' on the bow unit...but if I could 'only have' one location with SI...it'd be the console unit for me...

FWIW...

Well I spent a great deal of time at Bass Pro tonight and have decided to put the Humminbird 798CI at the console and a Humminbird 586C at the bow.  Whats your thoughts on these 2 electronics..

Those are both excellent units with Industry Leading features for their class. Like 640 Veritcal Pixels in a 5" unit and the 798c with 4000 Watts Power and Side Imaging, Down Imaging and Dual Beam Switchfire Plus Sonar and 50 Channel GPS Receiver is unmatched in features for the dollar. Congrats let us know if we can help!

I have used both the Hummingbird and Lowrance units.  My own personal opinion is the hummingbird is easier to use and navigate through all of the functions.  The Lowrance was an older unit so they might have changed it up some.  I have the 798si unit and love it.

Excellent choice!  If nothing else, you now have the absolute best customer service available...trust me, I own Lowrance products.

It always amazes me how folks can have such opposite experiences...

I'd try HB...but they don't do what I need them to do... :shocking:

Well CF, I have yet to purchase something from Lowrance that worked right out of the box...it has always been something and with them it never seems to be an easy fix.

Every time someone announces something new and exciting about the Lowrance brand, there are a group of 'brand specific' guys that get all over it and yell "Blue Murder!"  To say that it is becoming a bit 'last season' is an understatement.

I am a user/owner of Humminbird, Lowrance, Garmin, Furuno and Simrad.

I love my Humminbird's high power 455kHz Side Imaging giving me crystal clear 150ft side to side (300ft) coverage.

I love my Lowrance's DownScan that gives me amazing detail on structure, cover and fish directly beneath the boat, thus helping me to interpret exactly what it is my conventional sonar is trying to tell me.

I love my Garmin's Navigation features and position update speed.

I love my Furuno for deep offshore - targeting shoals of game fish and the food they are looking for by simply turning a knob for higher and lower gain.

I love my Simrad because I can connect my laptop / satellite receiver to it (then stowing it out of harms way) and still see the screen in bright sunlight and not have to worry about spray / rain.
