I owned a stratos before my Skeeter and loved it...........until I owned the skeeter. I do not agree with the comment that Skeeter and Ranger are the best. I have been in several boats and they all have their good and bad points. I do know that boats built in the same price range will be very comparable in quality. Boat builders are similar to the work I do and they do the most they can with what they have and can afford to put in the boat.

Bass Cat
Ranger
Triton
Skeeter
seem to be the most used boats out there but I also see Legend, Champion, Nitro etc....and I know most of these are all are GOOD boats...............Junk just does not cut it in todays world with the communications we have and the reputation someone can get over night!

 >:(     I had an old Ranger for 10 years , never had any problems , but in the end it got me ,had the engine catch on fire do to an old part in it , so my boat was scraped by insurance . I did like my Ranger & yes they are very good boats . But i have a friend who has a Skeeter and i had fished it a few times . So i was looking for a Ranger to replace mine and i found a 2002 Skeeter , and let me tell you I love the boat ,and fishing out of it is easy and good ,i have put it to the test this year i fish 3-4 days a week . Di d you know that Skeeter was the first company  to build bass boats and their engineering and technology is excellent . I'll take a Skeeter from here on out ,maybe next year a new one  or a newer one for me .

I have a Skeeter and love mine, I have had no problem what so ever, but if I do hit a log or stump, :toot: that is what I have replacement insurance for, not that I I want to do anything to my baby   ~tumble

Had a skeeter sx170 and bumped into and of of a enough things in the water to have to replace lower unit on motor. No problems with (thin) hull. Just took delivery of a new skeeter zx190, wonderfull boat, love it already. Especially like they way it sits on trailer with independent axles. Allows boat to sit lower to ground and much easier to get in and out of boat. Did i mention Fortrex lift assist TM, oil bath hubs, swing away tung, two Lowrance mk5 Hd units, boarding ladder, storage------ etc.

Ok I'm not just a little late on this topic, I am past due at the library late.  I own a '96 Skeeter, SS90.  I love the boat. I'm not the original owner, but I treat it like I was.  I agree with the statements that "older model" Skeeters have a thin hull.  The boat had been tortured in it's past life.  multiple fiberglass patches on the bottom, and a terrible amount of blisters through the gelcoat.  Like I said, I love the boat and wouldn't trade it for anything.  But there was something not quite right during manufacture process to produce the blisters(over 1000) on the hull.  I know the day is coming when it would no longer be able to take me fishing, but today is not that day.(Leaving tonight for 4 day fishing trip on Caney Lake)
Take care all....
