My favorite lake in CT is Gardner Lake. It has no marina. Access to the lake is provided by a state owned boat launch located on the southern shore of the lake. The launch can be reached from Norwich by taking Route 2 west to Route 354 south. The access road to the launch is off Route 354 just north of its intersection with Route 82. Facilities at the launch include a ramp with concrete pads, chemical toilets during boating season, and parking for approximately 50 cars with trailers. Regulations on Gardner Lake limit boat speeds to 6 miles per hour from sunset to 8:00 a.m. The fishing season closes the last day of February and reopens at 6:00 a.m. on the third Saturday in April. Gardner Lake is periodically stocked with brown and rainbow trout by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. Since 1993, Gardner Lake has been stocked with 4 to 5 inch walleyes. Since that time the walleye population has been expanding and growth rates have been excellent. By the third year walleyes in the 15 to 18 inch range were present. Other species that should provide good fishing are largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, brown bullhead, white catfish, black crappie, and sunfish.
The best local bait/tackle shop in the vicinity is The Fish Connection located at 127 Route 12 Preston, CT 06365. Their number is (860) 885-1739. They do not have a website.

It's hard to decide what my favorite lake is.  Seems I always have luck when I go to Wyassup Lake and It's not too far from the house.  I can say my least favorite lake is Pauchaug..... I think iv'e pretty much dregged the entire channel there with my outboard.  I have yet to go there without screwing up my prop.  Oh yeah Beach Pond is another one I seem to always have bad luck at.  Miles and SubTM1 I'm sure will never let me forget the day I was casting... caught my other pole in the middle of the cast, launched it into the water and had to dive in after.  While diving in I pulled the other pole in with me.  I did manage to retrieve both rods from the water.   Fortunately the only thing I lost was my sunglasses.   If it hadn't of been for Miles I don't know how I would've got back into my boat without flipping that over too.  We still laugh about that one. lo

Yup, I'm out on the deep drop fishing and all I hear is SPLASH. I turn around in time to see mess93 floundering around in the water. Well It was a cooler night, about 50 so I easy on over to his high sided V hull and let him climb onto the back of my boat then hop into his. All I could think was why would you dive in for a rod in that weather.

Yeah it was pretty chilly..... it was even colder when you're soaked brrrrrrr.  If there was a camera around I'm sure it would have given ol' Bill Dance a run for his money on the bloopers reel.  Don't think I'll ever forget that day.  Good Times, Good Friends, alot of Laughter and a lifetime of memories of the 2 rods that almost got away!!! :roll2:  Guess that's what fishing is all about!!!!! :)

:roll2:   YES...that scene was definitely PRICELESS... Good thing that Miles was there to enjoy the experience and rescue mess93. He also gave his cell phone a freshwater bath. Unfortunately, the cell phone when dried-out did not work so well after that, but it was a good excuse to have to get a new one. THANK YOU AGAIN MESS93 for a fishing trip that will NEVER be forgotten!!!!    ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

My favorite lak by far would have to be Hanover pond, in meriden.  Last summer, on a snagproof pro tournament frog, i caught a 9 and a half pounder.  This lake is absolutely loaded with bass.

even though this is a old topic ,but when i saw it i had to post on it. now i love candy & east twin but my fav is squants pond!! reason is it gets little presure , no more than a 25hp is allowed if you don't live on the lake. and the best thing is it has great smallie action by far compared to all the other lakes in CT. this place is the best.
