Does anyone know if a Keelshield will be able to attach to my boat hull??  The fibreglass is already slightly damaged, so I want to attach a Keelshield before it gets any worse.

As you can see from the photos, the hull shape is very a sharp "V" shape. The photos I have seen of fitted Keelshields are all on boats with a flatter bottom or rounder/smoother "V" shape.

Steve, I would think it would work. I know when I put mine on that is was pretty flexible, really don't think there would be an issue. Might not hurt to contact them and show them the photo's and get there opinion.

Excellent suggestion! But if you go with it I'd lay the Keelshield out in the sun to make it more pliable before attempting to mold it on there.

Update;

I sent an email to Keelshield and another Keel guard company and both of them replied saying that their products would not suitable on the shape of my hull. The V angle as well as the keel to upright angle are both 2 sharp and could cause adhesion problems as the products memory could try to pull itself off the hull.

Oh well, I'd better start looking at other ways to protect my hull. Anyone got any suggestions??

Now that is a really good idea, would never have thought of that... :-*

I used the keel shield on a boat with a sharp bow, and cut "v's" where it kinked around the sharp curve. It probably voided the warranty, but worked just fine. I would be sure to use some Marine Tex to fix the large chips, sand the area with 180 grit paper everywhere the keel shield is going to touch, clean extra good with alcohol, and install the keel shield after warming it somehow. Worked for me, and still in place after a few years.
