how to set a jack plate???

im lost got a 6 inch jp and i dont how to set it 2 1/2 below the pad where do i measure from?

Using the trailer jackstand, level out the boat hull.  Using the trim switch, level the motor out so it is straight up and down, perpendicular to the hull.

Then take a straight edge and go from the lowest point on the pad out to the lower unit.  The measurements are taken off this straight line to the center of the propshaft.
