Getting ready to order another Kistler, but waiting for them to get their about as close as possible to a fully custom made for me, hand made shop ready,so I can get what I want,,, thread color,, MICRO-guides,, bass pix and name all done by hand. You just can't beat a kistler rod for being light, strong and very SENSITIVE. Santa is bringing me another Dawia Steez my first one is on a Kistler LTXII as custom as I could get it then,, now with their custom shop opening having another Kistler made with the MICRO-guides  ~read I have really done my home work and can't wait for a new Kistler rod and MICRO-guides!!! ~fff ~cf With a 7' 2010 Kistler and MICRO-guides and a Dawia Steez spooled with 20lb. with 6lb. diameter and a 1/16th oz. BooYah pond magic spinner bait weighs right at 8oz. that's only 1/2lb. all us old folks with bad hands can sure enjoy a full day on the water casting more than you ever have with no sore or tried hands at the end of the day  ~gf  ~fff If anyone has read anything bad about the MICRO-guides I would like to see it. ???

I agree lgetc,

I have never owned a rod I like better than my kistler. I have a custom made rod that is worth around $500.00 and it does not compare to the Kistler. I am looking forward to purchasing the new Z-Bone custom made but customer designed rod.

My rod is shipping back from Kistler via FedEx and is schedule to arrive on the 23rd and weather permitting will try it out next weekend. I will let everyone know how it performs with the new micro guides.

There are a few negatives to micros - too small for a certain line - but there are "larger" micros for that - they also do ice quicker.

Overall, I haven't seen why not to use micros.

I will respectfully object to "You just can't beat a kistler rod for being light, strong and very SENSITIVE." There are other options - mainly custom - that aren't $500.

Quite honestly, I've never seen a custom over $500 that out performed a $250 custom - and I see a lot of them.  :) Might have been a little fancier - but a lot of the "fancy" decreases performance and many custom stick makers haven't figured that out.

Well I received my rod back Tuesday and was able to fish with it today for the first time and I have to say if surpassed my expectations. I was fishing with my shimano Calais reel with 40 lb power pro braid and my Kistler rod with the new micro guides and casting a war eagle jig with a zoom super chunk. It cast further and my cast were more accurate. One of the unexpected benefits was I never got any loose line the whole time I was fishing. Not once did I have to pull off any loose line. I could not believe it. I am extremely satisfied and I will not buy another rod without micro guides.

Glad you are happy! The micros really are an improvement.

How long was your rod and how many guides?

BamaCoast

6'-6" with 8 guides.

I am going to try out for the first time my new Duckett Rod my wife bought me for fathers day. Going in a few hours. It is very hot today so I am waiting until this afternoon. I have a 6'9" medium heavy casting rod with 11 micro guides. Looking forward to trying it out.
