This year the Indiana State Fair Fishing Pond is celebrating its fifth year and uses volunteers from the community including individuals and groups such as the Indy Bass Club.  One shift requires 18 people to properly staff all of the stations at the Fishing Pond for one 4 hour shift and they will make an Indy Bass Club sign to display. This is a great way for the Indy Bass Club to demonstrate the clubs commitment to our community, youth and conservation and to share our passion to fish and to teach others about the sport we all enjoy.

Please check your schedule and see if you can volunteer on

Saturday 8-21-10    8:30am to 12:30pm
Please responsed in this forum by Sunday June 20th so I can let the coordinator responsible for staffing the Fish Pond know that they can count on the Indy Bass Club to volunteer and support the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana State Fair.

Morning shifts will be cooler and allow you to experience the Indiana State Fair in the afternoon.

You can also bring your spouse, parents or children over age 16 years old to volunteer.

Let's show the community that tournament fishing is alive and well in the Indy Bass Club.

Opportunities for meaningful volunteer experiences exist at the following Fishing Pond stations:

Registration (2 Required)
You will help parents register their kids and let them know where they need to go next.

Fishing (12 Required)
You will be working directly with the kids and their family around the Pond.  You will assist 2-3 kids during their fishing experience and help them with baiting hooks, casting the cane pole, catching fish, and returning fish to the water.

Equipment (2 Required)
You will be tying knots to hooks and supplying the fishing crew with ready-to-go cane poles.

Education (2 Required)
You will help kids with a hands-on, educational, craft activity, which will be supplied.  You will also be taking pledges for the Angler Legacy program.

Fishing Pond volunteers are provided with Free State Fair entry on the day you are scheduled to volunteer and will receive a Free T-shirt to wear during your shift and keep.

Thank You in advance for your support.
