Sam I am

The flats were full of some funny boat operators this weekend. Yestarday was the best though.

We had a guy in a 19-20' bow rider drive right up on the grass flat we were fishing on the dead low extreme tide... You could tell he didn't know what to make of that grass flat... he made a wide swooping turn back into the channel that was 1/4 mile away!  ~roflmao

And then there was the ramp.... Brian and I witnessed divorce material when we were TRYING to take out  ~roflmao Typically people do no back into the ramp when a boat is tied to the floating dock already... but this dude did even though his wife kept warning him... He even got out and railed on her in front of everyone for warning him.. it was great. I figure that scratch they gave the cig. boat wasn't a cheap fix.

Atleast the grass flats have plenty of prop lanes now.. It makes it easier to get your TM through.

I will say I thought it was un nerving to have the DNR police out hassleing people right before launch of the river ratz tx saturday morning... but come Sunday and Monday when all the yankers are out drinking and driving like morons the DNR boats are tied up and no police to be seen anywhere??????? I don't get it.

I just missed you guys- ran into Brian at WaWa. Took the wife and kids out to the sand island Sunday afternoon and it was crazy out there. People driving down the main channel like fools. Funniest thing I saw all daw was a big fancy 27 foot cabin cruiser pull up the the flat around the sand island (about 2 feet of water at best)- get stuck - then drop his anchor- on an outgoing tide. Somone had to tell him he was beached and it took several people to push him off. Took the back channel on the way in because I didn't feel safe with the family in the main channel.

I agree. Idiots by the dozens on the water this weekend. I was out both Sunday & Monday. Pretty good chop coming in both days and that doesn't include the wakes that were coming from the big boats. Its no wonder people run into each other out there with all the traffic. i did not see any DNR or Coast Guard either. The ramp in Port is always a cluster *%^$.

My personal favorite is the guy who didn't try to start the boat at home, gets to the dock, tries but fails to start the boat and then ties up on the dock and starts tearing the motor apart in order to fix it. CLASSIC!!!!

Start the boat while it is on the trailer in the water, if it doesn't start, pull out and let the other people get in! Is it just me or does that seem too rational?

Be safe out there, its that time of the season again...

I think memorial day, 4th of july and labor day weekends is why they made Reservoirs!!!   No idiots there.  It was calm and peaceful as could be out there.

I was thinking about braving it because I had cabin fever but I knew it was going to be bad. I honor those who tried to fish over the weekend  ~shade

MY BUDDY AND I WERE OUT SUNDAY. WHAT A BUNCH OF MORONS OUT THERE.THE JET SKIERS, THE WATER SKIERS, THE DRUNKS, AND ALL THE REST OF THE MENTAL PYGMIES. THE DNR NEEDS TO STEP UP THEIR GAME ON THE WEEKENDS. THER NEEDS TO BE SOME TYPE OF OPERATOR TEST, AND LICENSE REQUIRED. BUT AS THEY SAY, YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID. THESE ARE THE SAME JERKS OUT ON THE WATER, AS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE WOST PART IS THESE BOATERS DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT THEY ARE IDIOTS !!  COME ON DNR, WRITE SOME TICKETS.

how often does the DNR go out onto the lake (liberty) i've never seen them I dont think, do they have a electric motor as well?

BassthumbJE

they have a gas motor.   thats the first time ive been stopped on liberty...last year i was stopped twice on loch raven and once on prettyboy by the watershed police.   sounds like they need to concentrate more on the rivers with the pleasure boaters.

The DNR are on Liberty every holiday weekend... they havent missed a Memorial Day in about 10 years.... Hellbendernut/Dave Kirk

You cant classify everyone with a jet ski as an idiot who doesnt know what they are doing. I was out on mine saturday and it was crazy, i stayed away from the boats because for some reason the weekend warriors with their cabin cruisers think they ALWAYS have the right of way since they have the bigger vessel.
