I have an 06 tracker pro team 175 with a motor guide 46lb thrust foot control trolling motor on the bow. My problem is the pull chord continues to snap because it is rubbing on a sharp edge. There is a small hole in which the chord runs through attaching to the spring which releases the pins, the egdes of the hole are sharp. I bought his boat used, is there something missing from this like a plastic insert? Or just a poor design? Anyone else have this problem and come up with fix?

Actually I had the exact same problem last week. There is a plastic grommet that goes in that hole. Mine came out as well. Very difficult to get back in there. My solution, made a pull cord out of a length of stainless cable. I don't know the exact size but it's pretty small in diameter. Looped the ends and secured with cable crimps and it works like a champ. This was my solution and only took about 15-20 min. to fix. Hope this helps.

I would look at replacing the grommet. You could even try a rubber grommet if you can't get the original. When you replace the rope the next time get some heat shrink and put a 5-6" piece where the rope comes through the hole to help protect it.

The steel cable is an innovative idea but won't it eventually wear throught the TM bracket?

Bought a 3/8" & 1/2" grommet set from lowes. Put a 3/8" in on one side of the hole and the 1/2" grommet on the other side. Epoxied them and put a piece of black duck tape over them, only because they are gold (couldnt find black or silver). Seems to have worked!!
