Sorry to hear about the boat Strozier.  I wanted to thank you for turning me on to Ryan at Marine Max.  I had them do some work before I went on tour, and I was/am extremely happy!  I am dropping the boat off tomorrow to get my StructureScan installed.  It is a bit of a drive, but worth it!  Thanks again!

Atleast it didn't leave you 20miles from the ramp calling all your buddies to come get you.... I know the feeling all to well.

Don't forget to get your actuator looked at while it's there... that thing was clunking last time I saw you.

Well Jay sometimes it takes awhile.Had my share of proplems down at the dealership some have taken me days to figure out!

jstrozier

Yea. They are still working on it. Hopefully I hear some good new's soon. Said they had an idea and was going to try something today......we shall see   :-\

Might be a fuel delivery issue if its not showing anything on the scan tool.

Thats what he originally thought.... Thats why he changed the fuel pump and a bunch of other things first. At this moment I beleive they think its eletrical.

perhaps some of the coil issues these motors are becoming known for?

I hope your boat gets fixed soon.... That baby looked sweet on the water.  I saw you while I was fishing the PA East District tournament down there a few weeks ago.  The Ultimate Bass logo sure sticks out on the water.

Good luck with her..

I would also recommend having him put the bore scope into each of the 6 cylinders. I am not 100% familiar with the Opti, but the fuel oil is mixed pre injector, so if there is a fuel delivery issue it might not have been getting the proper lube it needed, therefore causing scarring in the cylinder.... which will lead to needing a tow because the cylinder frooze.

greg hall

compression test should have been the first thing done ! I hope they did that ;),If anybody knows anything about engines a low cylinder will cause all types of issues.

The very first issue I had was a coil last year...

They thought it was this again and Merc told them to go ahead and replace all the coil drivers.....thats what they did last week.....

Thanks....

At this point in time they took it out on the water with some gauge and my low pressure fuel pump had a drop in pressure when they were runing her...so they are gonna replace that.....

Apparently Opti's have 3 fuel pumps...

hopefully this is it.....will find out soon..........

I thought or I'm assuming the motor was still under warranty? If so, then at least be thankful you don't have to break the bank trying to fix it with money from your own pocket. That would make things considerably rough if had to pay for each and every little test or part that was put on.

Hope they figure it out soon brother and that you are back out on the water asap. ~c~

Couple of years ago I had merc 200 efi and I took it to ryan.  They ended up blowing 3 power heads at the shop and never did get it fixed.  No knock on ryan the motor was just crap.  I had to end up taking it to a high performance merc shop in Newark (I think) and after they had it for several months they fixed it enough for me to sell it.  Hopefully they can fix your motor but sometimes those advanced computers just get a hick up and it takes a good while to fix.  Whatever happened to the god ole carborater?

That would be painful if not...

seems like they are throwing darts! lol which is sometimes you have to do,they need some factory support on this one or contact a few other techs to see if they have had this issue & what fixed it.

HammytheFisherman

Glad to hear still under warranty. That would def hurt if not.

Low Pressure Feul Pump.......

Gonna change all my pumps while they have it cracked open...will pick up sometime today     ~c~

Not to knock that guys ability... but two weeks and a visit from mother merc to figure out the fuel pump was bad? When shade tree guys were mentioning that?

I really would be persistant on having him scope the cylinders. That means your cylinders were moving without proper lubrication.
