I have a 2001 TR186, and along with the "trademark" gas fumes, It also smells like a cat has been peeing in it for years. I've dumped all kinds of  stuff in the bilge to try to git rid of it. I'll open everything up and it will subside. Leave it open after I go fish, But after I put it up then get it out next week   BAM !  cat pee and gas.  yum yum.  Any thoughts..........

Get a new boat? ~roflmao

There are several products on the market that absorb odors. I've seen them at Lowes and Wally world. We had a musty odor in the laundry room and my wife picked up one and no more odors!

If its coming from your live wells try this. Fill your live well 75% full with water and add a cup of bleach in there and turn on the recirculator. This should be done periodically anyway to kill any bacteria that may form which can harm your fish. Do this a few times a year and you should be fine.

Here's the best way I've found to get rid of the cat pee smell.

Get your wife pregnant and convince her parents that cats around the baby are not a good idea. Out of obligation/guilt her parents will take in the cats. You may still have to move and get a new boat to get rid of the smell, but at this point its a win/win/win. You get a new boat, a new kid, a new house, and you have been granted a reprieve on the ownership of a cat.

I've got some good articles about the dangers of cats around babies stored on my flash drive if you need em. Just let me know.

Yeah I wish it was a cat peeing in it, then at least i'd know why it smelled that way. I've been wanting to try out my new .17 cal mach2 barrel i got for my Ruger 10/22  >:D (sorry cat lovers) The only thing I keep it locked up in the garrage. So no cats. I think I'll try out the flushing of the live wells. Then run some of that water through the bildge. Possably get me one of them oder killers and keep in there.
thanks guys. I don't know bout all of you, but I can't wait till them fat girls get up in them beds.

Don't know if this applies to you or not but my buddy kept his boat in his garage (Not attached to his house). We smelled the same smell last year in his rod lockers and dry storages. Come to find out rats got into his boat that winter. They have the same smell as cat pee. I could not believe they could even get in since his lockers and lids were all locked. Only thing we could figure was that they went in where the steering cables come into the boat. Might want to check that out. We figured it out when we started seeing bits of shredded carpet in the rod lockers and paper off of tackle packages.

I worked for years in a place that took care of smells you can spend some big $ but here is a simple trick "baby powder"

get some simply green dump a half of bottle into the bilge.  pour 20 gallons of water into the bilge. with the plug in.  Now go take your boat down the worst dirt road you can think of and drive around for 45 minutes or so.  Drain the bilge and you should be good to go if the problem is under deck

about those rats...  they'll PEE everywhere...IF that's the issue, you should be able to put a black light on it and it'll fluoresce...

had a mouse set up housekeepng in my garage this winter...messy little critter.  I 'evicted' him...then hosed the whole thing down...

The bleach idea would definatley kill the bacteria, but be careful to not use too much bleach or use it too often.  My father-in-law has told my wife and I numerous times to not use bleach too much or too heavy when cleaning the toilet b/c it eats away the seals in the toilet, and you also have seals in your pumps.
