Need Help

I have an old mercury model 500 ( I believe ) 50 hp 4 cylinder motor does anyone know how to work on them.  Main issue is when i throttle up it cut out an bog down so drop the throttle an slowly raise it an its fine  unless i go full.  Can anyone help me out ??

Wish I could.  Guy that worked at Valley Marine is a good Merc mechanic, but I don't recall his name.  Not sure if he even works there anymore.  I do know he was helping rig boats at the place south of CB, IA for a bit as well...might still be there?
