I have heard good things about Pro-Tec powder coatings for painting jig heads and weights, but have never personally used the product.  Supposedly, the product is a dry powder, and all you have to do is heat up your weight or jig head with a cigarette lighter for a few seconds and then dip it in the powder.  When you pull it out, the color adheres to the heated surface.  Perhaps there are others here who have personal experience with this product?

If you want black here is the best way i have found.  If the weights have a plastic insert remove it with a pair of pliers.  get a torch i prefer mapp gas but propane will also work. last you will need a cup of water.  Thread the weight onto a paperclip and hold the clip with your pliers and heat the weight till it is cherry red then dip it into the water.  It will leave it with a blueish black tint.  Last replace the insert. Works great and its free.

I also purchase the plain silver weights. I paint mine with Krylon paint. For me it works better than the other brands. I plan on getting some Dupont automotive paint next. They say it adheres to the tungsten great, but it's expensive. I ruff the finish up first by rubbing them on the cement on the drive way(Easier than trying to do it with sand paper). I then place a tooth pick in the top and bottom holes. I spray them and then place the tooth pick in a sheet of styrofam and let them dry 1 hour then repeat with another coat of paint. I usually apply 3 LIGHT coats of paint. The problem is it actually takes them several days to fully cure. I usually wait a week before placing them back into my Plano box. I've actually had better luck with the paint than powder coats.

Hey smokey did you ever try and cure the paint in an oven, is that even an option?

I've tried sitting them on the hood of my Tahoe in the sun. The paint tends to get spider web cracks. It seems a slower curing time actually works better for me. Also, I did try the finger nail polish also, I couldn't get it as smooth as with the spray paint.

the insert is there to prevent line breaks.  If you remove it you need to peg your weight at best.  Other than that I would recommend nailpolish and a clear coat.   Fogy you'll have to buy some manly colors, your pinks and nudes won't work :-* ~roflmao ~roflmao

It's Red dammit  ~xyz ~rant ~xyz  but nude works very well with watermelon candy as long as you put sparkles in the clear coat.  lo
