I am sure this probably has been mentioned, but it is worth doing again.  If you are having a problem with the rubber band holding your skirt to a jig, spinnerbait, blade/jig bait, etc here is an easy fix.  Use a mini cable tie instead.  I found several packages of these 3 inch long cable ties at a flea market in red and also black colors.  Cost was around $.99 for a package of 50. Started using the red cable ties on Boogie Baits and then on jigs.  Not sure if the red color helps, but I am sure it does not hurt based on how well the skirts have held up this year that I attached the mini red cable ties to.

Oh yea those little zip ties work great, I also use them on my jigs at times also, the branches and things tend to rip up the bands on the jigs at times.

I'm going to have to try smaller bands. I had just bought a buzz bait and fished it once, and when I reorganizing my tacklebox, I noticed that the skirt was only tied on with a small thread and was about to come off, I remembered seeing this tip before and it worked fine. But now I'm having a heck of a time getting the buzz bait back up to the surface on retrieve. Or maybe for a buzzbait you need to have something lite like thread or wire?

I use the ties on all my skirts,  just make sure the locking portion of the cable tie is pointing towards the top of the hook, it catches less water this way and less weeds.  Also use the smallest you can get away with.

hope this helps

I use cable ties from Lowes that have the "tag" end horizontal instead of vertical; nothing to hang on anything.

I also use a cable tie gun tighten the tie ;)
