Has anyone heard of Eagle Claw "45 Auto" lazer sharp worm hooks? I had smalllies tossin Diachi like there was no other way.  No problems with Gamahatsu when some one mentioned the E.C. 45 auto. Has anyone ever seen such a hook?

I have not heard of them but will do some checking with the guy I fish with and see if anyone has heard of them or even if they have tried them.

They have actually been around for quite a while, years back they got a bad rap as being very dull and you had to sharpen them (I sharpen all hooks, but that's just me) they have a really different bend in them that is hard to explain that ends in an offset shank. Actually they are a very good hook and with the new advances in pre sharpening hooks they are quite good.

Has the name changed? I have searched yahoo extensively and cannot find anything distinctly refered to as "45 auto". Even Eagle claw that I can find doesnt reference them as such or am I just misssing it? CAn you tell me who might have them on the shelf? Maybe Ill call bass proshop and Flippers in Gallatin tomorrow and see what comes up.

Eagle Claw made them but I think they have been discontinued. You can try Tru-Turn they ae about the same as the 45 autos. I've still got a few odd and end ones hanging around but never use them anymore. Mustads Ultra Points for me.

:) :) Eagle-Claw,Tru-Turn, and Mustad all merged this past year I do beleive. In doind so various good aspects from all three have been incorporated in their process and Eagle-Claw, Laser Sharp are very good hook and not as expensive as Diachhi, Gamahatsu, or even BPS's XP series......Look into Tru-Turn or Mustad if your having problems finding them.Tru-Turn just came out with new lines and so has Mustad

I use the Tru-turns when I'm downsizing or need a slimmer profile and I love em.

:) :) Me too fishaholic and especially like the newer RED 2/0-3/0 Tru-Turn Worm hooks as they don't bend as easy as Eagle Claw and aren't as hard on equipment as Mustad Ultra Point Heavy Duty

Gamakatsu, Owner and TTi are the only hooks I would recommend

for sharpness I go with earthworm, Gamakatsu are better they seam to hold their sharpness longer!

the way I rig my baits, I haven't really noticed any difference between the two Gammys and TTs...except, for downsizing, TTs really make the difference, but keep in mind I use the fine wire ones, not the heavy gauge wire ones.

I've used Mustads the most for the last three years. I use to be a Gamakatsu fan but after using the Ultra Point hooks I'll never go back to Gamakatsu. The hook points don't roll on Mustads and the hook is stronger. They just flat out, out perform Gamakatsu. They hold the bait up better they don't get dull, as far as being hard on equipment you can't blame that on a hook. All of my equipment works just fine.

I prefer owners when I can get em, seem to be the sharpest of the lot, their larg gap circles work great for most bait fishin.
I like their worm hooks for plastics, but I haven't bought any in a while so not sure if they even make the ones I am usin.

My second choiceis mustad, they make a dedicated catfishin hook, that works great on most larger species of fish both fresh and salt, and stay sharp long even after hookin a few trees, and hard jawbones.

They have such a large selection of hooks I get pretty cornfused on what to have or use, but I know what brands I'm going to by.

Had to go out of town for a few days but now its time to get back the important stuff. On the way back into town I go right past BPS in Nashville I resisted but it was more than I could stand.
I ended up getting some TT's EZ Links 1/0,TT Brute's and ZS's all with offset shaft. We'll see. Cold front in Middle TN today and rain. Maybe Ill wadw the creek tomorrow and see what I can do. 54degs at the momemt.

TN Tom good luck. We got up to 60 today caught a nice 18 incher on a 6 inch shakey head worm this afternoon fishing a brush pile from the bank. Fished about half an hour. It was nice and sunny here but the wind was blowin pretty hard glad the lake sits in a valley and we don't get the full affect of the wind blowing on the water.

You wont find any worm hooks in my box but Gamakatsu. Although I do use Eagle Claw Lazer Sharps Trailer hooks for my spinnerbaits.

I tried a trailer hook one time, and ended up almost loosin it thanks to the trailer hookin on a big branch, luckily I was able to bring in the whole kit and kaboodle.

We have just too much junk in the water for exposed hooks where I have been fishin, if it ain't weedless, I can't throw it right now, when the boat is runnin then there are lakes that are a little better.
