What are they? I'd like to get a Vendetta, but, I don't think it will match to well with a catalyst... The Claruses look pretty good! Also Daiwa procyon's look pretty nice.. I like the split grip. Other than them three, I'm pretty much clue less as to what to get..... could, I please have some insight?

Bass Pro Shop has their extreme rods on sale in the Christmas catalog for $69.95.  IMO you can't beat it for the price.
I don't mind not knowing all the answers, but I keep forgeting the danged questions.

BB,

1) Take a sheet of paper or type it up in word, or copy and paste the information from their home pages. Then point for point:

Compare components such as the guides, reel seat and rod weight (if you can), warranty/replacement information.

2) If possible, try hold the actual rods with the reel(s) you plan to use with it.

This is the best way.  We can recommend rod A or rod B but these are rods that we like because they feel comfortable in our hands. It might not feel comfortable in yours.

Maybe I overanalyze, but I do so to help me make the best possible decisions.

Aluminum oxide guides will usually be found on rods at this price point so if you see guides like harloys or alconites, you know that those rods are offering you a better guide.

Clarus rods are darn tootin' good bang for the buck. I have one and have used mine quite a bit. It was decent enough to easily land beauty this with a Curado D. She was no match for the Curado D/Clarus combination.

Jimmy Houston ain't got nothin' on this crankbait's kiss. ;PEP)

The house brand rods from BPS and Cabelas when on sale are usually excellent deals.  I was lucky enough to land the Cabela's Mag Touch that is normally $99 half off not too long ago and then I had a $25 credit so it cost me only... well, anyone can do the math.  :surrender:

Patience and finding the deals can help you the the most bang for the buck.

Good hunting.
ARX - IB's Daughter on BC Reels:
"Papi! I like this reel. It is so much easier to use than the other one (the spinning reel) and it is more fun to use too." Now all I can say to that is this;
"That's my little girl!"

Cool guys! I really appreciate the help!  :)  ~c~

I've been looking around some more, and if I don't like the feel of the Extreme (with the power hump and all), than I've narrowed down to two pretty much. Shimano Clarus, And a All Start Team All star rod (wish it had a different name). The all star rod has got an IM10 graphite blank, but they're has to be some kind of gimmick to that. I think it will really depend on which one is lighter/more balanced. I'll also try to get my reel with line and try to find which one is more sensitive.  Which one do you guys say?

Ya, I spoiled my self on a 150$ cabelas XML, that thing is really light. I can't bare holding my BPS tourney special any more... like a ton of bricks!!

Any where I can get the weight of the rods? Anyone one know them?

I had a berkly lighting rod, it was my second bait basting rod... and honestly, I hated it! It was not very sensitive at all and VERY heavy. I don't really wanna get the Sock rod, it was a glass/graphite tip. That can't be very sensitive. I'd rather spend my $$ on something I have a little more confidence in.  ;)

I have two of their rods. One is a 61/2 medium action that I use for crankbaits, love it. The other is a 7 ft. heavy that I was going to use for jigs the thing weighs a ton, I don't even use it. These were their cheaper line at the time though. I think they have upgraded them.

Who's theirs? Clarus, or Team All star?

To tell you the truth I want a whole team of these cheaper rods! Starting with the Vendetta (by Abu Garcia), Mojo Bass (by St. Croix), Skeet Reese (newly out but can't remember the mfg.). I know this may sound a bit cocky but I feel I can catch as many fish with them as any of the high dollar numbers. Plus these rods, particularly the ones I've stated have a lot of style to them, especially for the money.. not that that should matter much, but it's just iceing in my opinion. Besides these "colorfull" rods would help simplify bait choices - purple rod=crankbaits, yellow rod= flippin jigs, etc.. I'd have to be a much more serious fisherman to justify rods double the price.. and I do consider myself pretty serious about it. Just my 2cents
