Help with choosing a new unit

I'm planning to buy a new sonar this weekend and wanted to see if any of you could help with getting the best unit for the money. I only have $200-250 to spend and it will be put on a jon boat. I understand that that's not a lot of money and my options are limited but, I'm sure I can get something decent for that. I also know a lot of you guys have much higher end units but I'm hoping someone will be able to give me an idea so I don't waste money. I appreciate any help I can get.

i love the lowrance  and eagle brands
some will tell ya humminbird  or garmin  im sure the garmin are good units too just from the name but have never owned one  and never have liked humminbird  but thats just my opinion

I have both Lowrance and 'Bird products, like them both.  Just got a HDS unit and after initial upgrades, it works great.  For the money, maybe you can find a used unit on one of the sale sites?  You might get more unit for the money, but you might get screwed too.  So, out of the box I think I would go with a humminbird as their customer service is way low stress...wouldn't want you to have to deal with Lowrance so early in your development, they are a royal pain in the AXE to work through.  Humminbird is 5 stars for customer service in my book!
