I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good replacement feathered treble hooks.  I dont want the flashy cheap plastic ones, i really want real feathers, the longer the better.

I buy bags of feathers at a hobby shop very cheaply and Kevlar thread from online baitshops. Have some gel Super Glue and clear fingernail on hand. Select a feather(s) and trim to length. Put a drop of glue on the stem and lay it on the shank of a treble hook to stick it temporarily. Knot the end of red Kevlar thread then wind it around that in even wraps then tie off with a second knot. Trim the knot even with scissors. Put a tiny drop of glue on the knot. Paint the wraps with clear fingernail polish.

Much cheaper than store-bought and you can have a unique hook not for sale anywhere.

If you want too tye some crystal flash or flashabou in,add it before you tye on the feathers.Pull out several strands of the desired product, and feed it through the eye of the hook.Even up the tips on both sides, and bind it down.trim the tips even. Most like the flashabou slightly longer than the feather. Now add your feathers..make sure you have the "Bow" of the feather going the right way.(You want the end of the feather facing up..not down) This will cause more movement in the tail!!..Tye in 2 feathers per side (total of 6) tye off.Use a touch of devcon 5 minute epoxy too protect your wraps..Nathan

I trim the hard root end of feathers off, using the soft tips (no more than 2" long)and don't use that many, 3 maximum. I spot glue them on the treble then add skirt material. I'll lay 5-8 strands with the middle of them situated halfway between hook eye and bend then spot glue those on (Gel Super Glue). I like the skirt tail ends extending only to the back of the hook bends wrapping over the feathers, and allow enough length on the hook eye ends to fold back over the hook points. That way I will get some pulsating, billowing skirt action on jerking retrieves and when drifting in a pause the feathers move slightly. Once everything is in place I wrap the hook shank with red Kevlar thread then paint on some clear fingernail polish which holds up a long time protecting the wraps from unravelling. Occasionally I leave the red wrap tag end long enough to trail a couple of inches behind the hook instead of using a red feather, I suppose imitating a length of gut hanging out of the lure.

I really like downy duck and sparrow feathers, sometimes including one red parrot feather centered between two white ones. The finished product is no less nice than the highest priced dressed hooks on the market.

Wrapping a piece of pipe cleaner around the sealed wrap allows soaking in some attractant.

Add a feather Treble to the back of a Lucky Craft Sammy 85 or 100 to improve the walk the dog action, plus it pulsates when you pause the bait. Plus step it up one hook size.

Ouachita try some dyed pheasant hackles and a bit of maribou...gold and silver tinsel is nice too. :-*

Try some craft fur.  I use that for my hair jigs.  I would imagine it works just as well with treble hooks!

As for the sammy with the treble hooks, that does work really well, i use them on prototype baits from ambush lures, keep a look out for this new bait coming out soon, it is really awesome.
