just got boat it's a 96 skeeter zx 300 w/ merc 225 efi.   it has a 24p trophy looks good , the fellow just put it on there not to long ago,,,, and great hole shot ,but over rev's.  dont have a lot of numbers yet but we had it out just a little bit and i noticed 62 mph @ 6000rpm's and didnt want to push it. was wot but not trimmed out. i have a 27p trophy i am gonna try. might be crazy for a 225 but i am hoping with it being a 4 blade it may still have a decent hole shot.  I haven't measured pad yet either. hopfully i can bring motor up if rpms are low. may be a nightmare but I can get it for $100. I also have friend with a 26p tempest that I will be able to try same day. it will be end of next week some time. in the mean time i will get the pad measurment on here.

Question how do I measure the set back? is that basically width of the jack plate?

comments welcome as I am new to the big boat class. and to tweeking prop/jackplate/pad/holeshot/wot/rpms/blowout/cavication/bow lift/pitch/rake..... and all the other stuff i have been craming into my pea brain!

If you cast it. They will come.

Congrats on the new boat! ~c~  Sounds like you're on the right track with the prop and information you'll need to get it dialed in. The jackplate measurement is called "set-back" and is the distance from the transom to the motor, usually 6", 10", or 12". Let us know what your prop to pad measurement is too.
