WHAT KINDA RPMS AND SPEED SHOULD I BE RUNNING AT WOT. THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM IS A TRITON AND MERCURY REP. I ALSO CANT TRIM UP PAST 1/4 WHEN RUNNING HE SAID THAT IS A SAFETY FEATURE ON THE GUARDIAN SYSTEM ON THE MOTOR ANYONE ELSE HAVE THAT TROUBLE OR IT IT SURPOSED TO BE THAT WAY. IVE NEVER SEEN ONE THAT HAS A TRIM LIMIT ON IT BUT THIS IS MY FIRST MERCURY.   PLEASE ADVISE

You guys are a little out of my league, but I have a 96' Mercury Xri 175 that only trims out 1/4 way. So mercury must have implemented that safety feature a while back.

I want a 250 :'(. Just not the 60 gallon tank  :shocking:. Unless it will run off moonshine ~shhh.

Baxter, yours doesn't have that limit. If both trim rods won't fully extend ya got something wrong........T

Yea, I thought something was wrong myself. I took it to my local marine mechanic (specializes in mercury outboards) and he said everything works the way its supposed to. He even lake tested it. The trim motor turns off after you trim to a certain level while its running. Maybe not that particular limit, but it does keep the motor from trimming all the way. I was told nothing was wrong unless my supposedly 20+ year experienced mechanic needs to be replaced with someone else.

Kinda confused. There are no limits that will turn tha motor off (tilt n trim motor). Might be a thermal over load in tha motor but I don't ever recall seein' one.  Maybe whats happenin' is its goin' ta full trim (both small rods fully extended) then changin ta tha big clyinder that will not hold tha motor with power applied. Hope thats makes some kinda sense! Hope ya get it figured out.........T

If you prvide me with the moonshine I could do some testing to see if it has a high enough octane level to make it work...a couple gallons would do the trick... ;D ;D ;D

nO BOAT BOAT MOTOR REGUARDLESS OF BRAND WILL TRIM OUT ALL THE WAY WHILE RUNNING. iF IT DOES THEN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH IT.

Coonhound

My TR196 with a 200 EFI Merc will only trim up, while under high power, to the ends of the two small trim rods. The big cylinder won't kick in under running power.
