I wanted to tell everyone about the customer service I received from Shimano yesterday.  I won a Shimano Compre rod at the Bass Life Banquet (no thanks to Mike Noble and his bad tickets! lol).  Sorry, that's an inside joke; if you were at the banquet then you will get it.  Anyways, I used the rod for about 3-4 months and it broke on me. :'(  The rod has a lifetime guarantee, so I called Shimano up and told them what happened.  I was told to cut the rod into 12" sections and mail it back to them.  It felt really wierd cutting up a rod with pruning shears, ~shhh but it was already broken anyways.  Well Yesterday I got my new rod back in the mail.  When I opened it up, it wasn't a Shimano Compre. :-\  It was a Shimano Crucial!  It had the same length, same weight, and same action.  For those of you that don't know, a Compre rod sells at Bass Pro for $79.  A Crucial rod sells at Cabela's for $139!  :o  I checked the shipping incvoice and it was correct.  They actually sent me a better rod back than I sent them.  Talk about customer service!  You better believe that Shimano will have my business in the future.  I just wanted to pass that along and see if anybody else has had anything similar happen to them; good or bad.

That is great news Trey .  ~c~ ~c~ I just recently bought a Crucial myself and am very pleased with it. I hope if I ever do need anything (not to bring bad luck) I will get the same great service. Thanks for reporting your event with Shimano.

Trey that is great news. We always like to hear about the companies that treat you well. I have a couple of the Shimano Crucials as well and love them. You won't be dissapointed ;)

Trey if I wasn't chrisitian I would be heading down to the store and buying some compres to have mysteriously break.    I have a couple Crucials and I love them.  THey are so Light its insane.  My 6'6 M rod weight 3.4 ounces.. I saw another thread talking about some company makeing the lightes rods in the world well I tell you for 100-130 a rod I would bet no one comes close to that weight and feal.. Not to mention Shimano bought G Loomis prior to their latest release of the crucials and the 2006 crucials look real nice also.  Anyway you made out like a bandit.  You will love the rod.. By the way what modle is it and can you weigh it?  if you need an acurate scale stop by the post office after dark..  :)

BIG PAPA

Trey I love to hear that. Like I said in the other thread That service warranty alone will make me use Shimano equipment. I do not care if I spent 79.00 or 229.00 on a rod, if I have a problem with it I want it to be taken care of.

Blake,

I haven't weighed it yet, but the rod is a 7' Med with a fast tip.
