I have a nitro 591 with a 150 optimax.I have the option to buy either a 6 inch jackplate, or I can install a hotfoot and protrim but can only afford one, which should I choose? If anyone has a similar setup what kind of gains should i expect once dialed in?

If you are looking to get the most performance out of the boat that you can definitely go with the jack plate. The jack plate will get you more speed and better handling.

If drivability is what you are looking for the hot foot and pro trim will allow you to keep both hands on the steering.

After I bought my first jack plate I said and have not every owned a boat with out one. They truly do make that much of a difference in the performance of a boat. I haven't owned a nitro in several years but when I did the jack plate was a huge performance difference. Raising and lowering the motor is important but setting it back off the hull is also part of the gain ;) and you can't get that with out the jack plate

Just my opinion but have the dealer do the jack plate, you can do the hot foot and trim down the line with ease.

To do the jack plate you have to have a way to pull the motor and store it safely while you bolt up the jack plate and than put the motor back on and hope like hell it doesn't fall while doing all this.

Check your steerin' cables for tha extra lenght for tha jp. 6 inches don't sound like much but with some dealer rigged boats  ~xyz it can become an issue when ya add tha jp.................

YOU WILL  ALSO NEED ABOUT A TWO FT LONGER CABLE FOR THE HOT FOOT
