I am looking at a 225 HO E-tec.  I have a 20ft Javelin with a 200 evinrude now.  Replacing the 200 with the 225 ho.  What prop should I put on the e-tec?  From what I can find there is a lot of 14 1/2" X 28" Rakers on this engine.  It just sounds a little high to me. I run a 24" raker on my 200 and it works great..

Thanks

If that 225 is a 09 then your 24 will probley be the ticket. They had to change the lower units on the 225 and 250 E-tec due to ongoing problems with gears. My friend had to have the lower unit on his 225 replaced 2 times the last replacement was with a 09 lower unit and due to the new gearing he had to drop down to a 24p Prop. They told him that he shouldnt have any more problems with the 09 lower end. Both times he broke down was at a tournament and the factory tournament repair team at the tournament replaced the lower unit.

If my memory serves me right the 250 HO has a 1 to 1:61 gear ratio and the 200/225 HO's have a 1 to 178 ? .  Maybe they changed to the taller gears for 09 for all.  I'm running a 25 Trophy plus 4 Blade on my 250HO on a stratos 201 and am turning 5825 wot. That that 24 Raker should work, watch the RPM at WOT. Have fun.
