How to prevent winter time corrosion on your trailer light plug.

We have all seen it where someone's trailer plug is flailing around in the wind from under the bumper of his truck in all kinds of weather.  During the wintertime here in the North Country they cover the roads with salt and calcium chloride that rusts bare metal and corrodes copper almost overnight. 

A trick a figured out that works well is take one of the heavy plastic packages Owner or Gamakatsu hooks come in and slip it over the trailer plug on your vehicle after spraying a little WD 40 inside the bag and the plug itself.  Seal it up with a little black electrical tape and cable tie it down so it does not blow around all winter long.  Come Spring the wires are still in good shape and the plug does not need a lot of cleaning to get all the blue patina and corrosion off before you get your trailer lights working again.

Great tip Baron, nothing worse than wanting to hit the water in the spring to find that your equipment is not working, could put a huge bummer on a first trip of the season
