coldfront

got a late start AGAIN today ~xyz ~rant and didn't get out on the water until 7:50 AM...sun had been up almost an hour...(first light is about 5:30 here)...still decided to start by tossing the Horny Toad...

First couple of casts, had a couple of strikes...arm was asleep and couldn't get the hook set ... so kept moving trying...found fish in the deeper flooded/emergent vegetation...nothing huge, most were 14-16 inches but showed plenty of attitude when hitting the toad.

Pretty much caught bass all around the lake from 8AM-11AM...probably had about 10-15 make it in the boat...had a few others that were short striking the toad.  Figure that might have been due to being late and fishing over fish that had already seen a few buzzbaits...thought about trying a 'floater' (SPRO) but not sure that would have worked either.

Towards the end of the morning, if I brought the frog over a weed clump and had a swirl/miss, I'd pitch it back in and deadstick it...picked up three more doing this...(who needs a fluke/senko?)

Last two fish came off logs as I was working back to the dock.

Am conviced I'd have had a better day if I'd been on the water early like I was suposed to be...or if I went back and fished it after 5PM this evening...

Water temps:  85°F.  Wind:  calm to 5mph...bright/sunny-no clouds at all.
