I use the Shadalicious and similar 4-5" swimbaits.  How much weight (the type molded onto the shaft of the hook) do I need to keep the bait properly keeled?  I am looking at some Falcon Bait-Jerk Superline 6/0 hooks that come in 1/32, 1/16, 3/32, and 1/4 ounce packs of four.

Thanks!

I'd go with 1/8oz and heavier, depending on the rate you want the bait to fall. You might be able to get away with 1/16oz., but those bigger swimbaits need a little extra weight to run true. Those Falcon hooks sound like they're made for soft jerkbaits like the El Grande Minnow, with require less weight. I know Falcon does make some swimbait hooks though. I'd recommend using a hitch-hiker or similar "screw-in" bait keeper. Some of the barbed bait keepers tend to tear up the nose of the bait and slide out easily.

I do have some of the corkscrew-style bait keepers.  They seem to make the bait last longer.  However, I have noticed that they cause the bait to lean to one side - usually the side of the hook where the bait keeper is located...
