Revo vs. Curado - Why the difference in bearings?

The shimano that is having to be cranked all the way do to prevent slippage more than likely has some grease or oil on the drag washers. I'm not saying that you don't have to crank it down a bit but if you are going till it stops there might be an issue.

As far as damaging your reel because of cranking it that far, I doubt it. The star will not touch the housing of the side plate and when you crank it that hard you are compressing metal and drag washers against the base of the drive shaft. I guess if you are man enough you could been or crack the brass drive gear?

I have worked on both and the drag systems are basically the same. The drag washers are made out of different materials depending on which model of each you are comparing.
