fish finder & water temp?

Ok i'm new to fish finders.Gonna get one soon.My ? about water temp.I will be mounting transducer on trolling motor.TM is only about 8-10" under water.So the temp I will be see is water temp for 8-10" deep or what?Say I was fishing 15-20' deep & wanted to know the temp down there? how do you do it?Thanks for any help in advance.

You're going to have to get a temp gauge with a long cable with a temp sensor on the end of it like the old combo color/ph/temp units with a 50 foot probe.

   I have a stainless steel pool thermometer on nylon cord if I want to know what the deeper water tempreture is.

That will only give you the surface temp. You will have to do like the others and drop something deep.
