After having my transducer mounted onto my trolling motor for quite some time, I really got tired of having to deal with the wire hanging down and everything. Not only that, but I kind of got tired of not having any sonar capability while my trolling motor isn't deployed. Needless to say, I installed it yesterday onto the back of my boat. Everything is mounted and sealed, but now when I turn it on it makes a very light ticking or pulsing noise. I have never noticed this before but maybe I just don't remember.
It is a humminbird Pirahna max 230, should I be worried about the light noise? It shows the transducer as connected, and all the connections are snug. Has no problems booting up and doesn't go into simultion mode or anything.

Thanks!

that is normal, some pucks are louder then others, but the Lowrance guy I talked to said it was fine

The ticking noise is necessary. That's the sound pulse being generated. If your transducer is pretty level with the bottom of the boat and you are parked on pavement, it should actually show that you are between 4 and 8 feet deep depending on how high above the pavement. Sound travels much slower in air than water so it will show about 3 times as deep reading in air as in water.

The world is full of people who can hear a loud bang, feel a sharp pain in the foot, notice smoke trickling out of their holster . . . and never put it all together

Thanks guys, not so worried about it anymore.
It doesn't show the depth right now, and actually never has unless it's been in water.
