More like Modified Pop-r's to be exact.
I learned how to modify the Pop-r the way that Zell Rowland does his a few years back. I'm a firm believer that it does work. One of my FAVORITE topwater baits is a clear popper. It's un-believeable just how well these perform. I recently started sanding and polishing some clear Pop-r's.
These take several hours to make between the sanding, polishing, and repainting.
If you look closely, you can tell a slight difference inthe top and bottom baits.
The top one will "chug and pop" just like the standard Pop-r. The bottom one will "spit and walk the dog" but is a little quieter than a Pop-r.

Thats pretty cool.
So you mean you sanded them down until they were clear?
I thought the plastic blank was white in color?
Fishing memories with dad.
NOTHING BEATS IT!

Nice looking modified pop r's there.

Most of today's hard plastic baits are made from clear plastic.

You're right. On the painted models, the blanks are white. I'm making these from this

The bodies are sanded down quite a bit, and then the "cup" is changed, depending on how much of a popping sound, or how much "spitting" action I want.
I can take one of these and work it in a small area, without actually moving the bait forward all that much. I'm 100% convinced these will out fish a standard Pop-r the majority of the time.

If you're interested, Stamina Quality has the PopR bodies that are already clear.  You would just have to add the components and paint to your liking.

I tried the ones from Stamina but was really disapointed in the quality. They are also longer and heavier than the Pop-r's.

I modify my PopRs the same as you. One thing I add though is to file the sides flat. It gives the bait more of an oval shape. I feel this helps the bait walk the dog a little more.

Those look Great. I like the clear popers. They are just hard to find around here.

That's the real secret to doing these, isn't it! ;)
