Fished today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (picked up Mr. Cork) at 2 p.m.  Caught one sac-a-lait (actually a black crappie) and one 13 inch bass in the end of the lake past the damn.  Water temps ranged from 60 to 62 there.  Went in the right cove across from the Parks Road ramp and caught nothing (water temp 63 to 64).  Picked up Mr. Cork and headed into Rambo's.  We caught 8 bass...7 of them were 12 to 14 inches and then had one 4 lber.  All of the fish except one (which was caught on a watermelon senko) were caught on a...hmmmm...anyone care to take a guess at it.  Ding, ding, ding...you are correct...a spinnerbait.  Color was chartreuse/blue/white.  Water temps in Rambo's ranged from 63 to 68.

Gotta love a spinnerbait.  ;D

Also fished Cypress this afternoon...joined my brother at 4:15 and by 5:00 we had caught 9.... all the fish came off one small stretch of bank on the North end....we fished another hour and tried some other areas but didn't have any luck anywhere else.  Most of our fish were also in that 12-14 inch range with one close to 3 lbs.  All fish caught on spinnerbaits with one comming off a rattle trap.  Several of the fish had torn up tails.

I fished Cypress yesterday morning till noon.  Went to white oak and ended with a 6lb catfish from a foot and a half on a jig, spent most of my time there.  Nothing else there. Went to the to a cove on the south end and nothing and then stopped by and fished the flat some by the dam and caught an under on a shakey head.  Glad Jake and Mike had better luck than I did.  Could not get a bite on a white spinner bait.

Hey Mike, saw what I thought was your rig at the launch as I was coming out.  I was parked beside you.  Blue truck.

Which coves are Rambo, and White Oak?  The only cove I know by name is Waggoners.  How do y'all find out the names?  I have looked at every map I can find.  Sounds like y'all had a good time out there.

I don't know Waggoners.

Rambo's is the one next to the park.  It has the long boat dock just inside on the right with all the boat slips.  It goes in, makes a 90 degree to the right and then has a small arm off to the left.

White Oak is across from the park and almost straight across from Rambo's.  It is a stump filled cove and is pretty big.  Quite a few boat docks on the right going in...none on the left.

Hope this helps.

Waggoners might be the cover on the left down by the no ski markers - not 100%

and White Oak has a few boat docks on the left when you first go in none on the right until you make the turn then there are boat docks on the right side and none on the left.

The easiest way to remember White Oak is that it is the cover with the duck blind right on the point of the main lake.

Thanks, guys.  I was calling White Oak Waggoners.  Man, that cove gets fished hard.  I am gonna try fishing the north end some this year.  I hear you need to be careful driving a boat towards the bridge because it gets so shallow.  Me and my family are camping out there the 26th thru 30th.  Maybe I will see y'all out there.

Now that you mention it, I have heard White Oak being called Waggoners.

As far as running to the bridge, it is not a problem right now.  There are some shallow areas but also some channels that run thru there also.  You do want to stay a bit to the right...almost like heading to that boat dock that sits on the left side of the point that leads to the bridge.  Just take it slow the first time or two and watch your depth finder.

If your are going to run your boat on plain to the north end, go between the 3rd and 4th no ski bouys at Eagle point and head straight for that dock towards the bridge. About a hundred yards before that dock shut it down and idle the rest of the way. I was up there a couple of days ago and I got to watch a couple of gals try to run next to that buck brush on plain and I tried to stop them but it was too late. They hit about 6 stumps then ran aground.  ~b~ When you go past that dock, stay about 60 ft from the bank as you go around that point. Once you see the bridge, just head straight for it, DO NOT RUN PAST THE BRIDGE. Just use your trolling motor or trim up and idle. Good fishing in there and I wish ya luck. Follow the little reflectors north of the bridge to follow the channel.

I am not real sure where the name White Oak came from... Ever since I was a boy sculling a jon boat around both lakes, it was always called Waggoner's pocket...If I remember right, he was lake commissioner & his house & dock was at the mouth of the pocket.

Rambo's was named after a catfish restaurant that used to be back there somewhere...I want to say it burned down.

Waggoners is white oak same place..and rambo's did burn down a some time ago.i went there as a kid they had a very big fish tank in the center of the restaurant...

I don't remember a Rambo's, but Cypress Inn did burn down some time ago. I do know the road leading to the houses at the end of the cove is called Rambo Dr, Ln, Rd,???

I think that is the name of the road also. We ate at Rambo's several times since we lived out there back then.

Thats correct. White Oak is Waggoners. Before the lake was built, Waggoners was a big white oak flat witha creek in it. Apparently, went to white oak to squirrel and duck hunt. Rambo's was a restaurant that burned down several years ago. Anyways, me n my boy fished Cypress friday and caught one bass abt 2lb. and lost another one all in White Oak flat. The perch will really be on any day now.
