Fished Lake Martin today with my dad.  We caught 4 total and he probably missed about 8 on top water.

Weather:  Windy - Gust 15-20
Temperature: 65-75 degrees.
Water Temperature: 64-65 degrees.

I caught my first keeper at around 10:00 on a chartruse and white buzz bait.  I popped a cypress tree and he hit it within five feet of the boat.

My second keeper came off of a Boohya Brown/Red Swim jig with a rage tail crawfish as a trailer.  I pulled it over a group of logs and he hit it on the way down over the top.

My third fish came off my jig while reeling it in.  He wasn't very big.  Probably about 12" and did a nice catch and release at the boat.

My dad caught a small one off a white colored Zara Spook.  He missed a ton on a dark ribbit with chartruese feet and quite a bit more on an old topwater bait with propellers.

I also had at least a 12 pound or more shoepick that nailed my white/chartruese spinner bait.  He litterally bent the head about 30 degrees and wrapped my pole under the boat.  He was about 5 seconds away from breaking it but luckily the bait came out of his mouth.

Overall we had fun.

I released these two in a friends pond.

Good to see some reports from that area of the state again.  Two pretty nice fish right there.  Is that part of the Henderson complex?  The name sounds familiar but it's been a few years since I fished Henderson.

Nah Lake Martin is a tiny lake (Probably 800-1000 acres.) on the way to Breaux Bridge but not connected to Henderson at all.  I believe Lake Martin was made originally for duck hunting or so it seems.  95% of the water there is 3-6 feet deep.  It is a weird lake in that aspect and you really end up fishing cypress trees, lily pads, or off the bank.  It is difficult to fish midday unless you can get far into the grass/lily pads.

Henderson is way to high right now and most people aren't fishing it.  Henderson is a basin connected to the Atchafalaya River.
