Wow, looks like the water dropped 10 degrees over the past 2 days. That ought to lock um up for a bit.

Always nice to beat the owner of the boat you're fishing out of.   ;D  Sure wish this cold front hadn't gone through.....the fishing seemed to be heating up pretty good and spawning had to have been just around the corner, but I imagine this is going to push things back a bit.

Which pocket is Brooster's?  Wish I had a map with all the names of the coves and what not (finally got the bayou names down and island names).

well jimijohnb if you are fimiliar with the twin bridges it is the second twin bridge. if not then on the northwest end of the lake there are two identical bridges go up under the second bridge and it opens up to a nice pocket. fished it before the front came in and caught 5 slot fish on watermelon red super flukes in the shallows along cypress trees and over grass beds. hope that helps you. the other bridge is nice also using the flukes and white spinner baits. want to know anymore bout it just ask

Me and a buddy fished Cross Saturday. Caught 15 or so. Water started at 49 and by dark 53 degrees. Just had to hit them between the eyes. One guy out there didn't believe us, so we put a 3.5 lber in the boat in front of him. Pulled up in our spot this evening, and what do ya know, Mr. Disbelief is sitting there!!!!   ~roflmao

Thats one thing i have learned. Never boat a fish where someone is around u if possible or get it in the boat quick. I've had that happen alot.

I was going to go today but my buddies sticker went out last month ~b~

I have caught alot of my fish under those bridges and 2 other key spots out there

Finness man

Just wandering but where is cross lake located..

Shayne

From Alexandria take I-49 north until you get to Shreveport and take La. 3132 until it turns into I-220 at I-20.  COntinue on I-220 for about 2-3 miles until you reach the Lakeshore Drive exit.  Turn left, go about a mile until the road ends and turn left again.  The launch is on your right about 1.5 miles tops.  It's also the big bridge you go across on I-220 if you pass the Lakeshore Drive exit like you're going to Bossier City.

Finness man

Thanks man i appreciate that i am going to have to get up there and give it a try

Cross Lake requires a special sticker that you can get at the Cross Lake Patrol HQ.  Be sure you get one, or it will be an expensive fishing trip!  Hope to see you on the water.
G Loomis rods and Shimano reels!

Welcome abick...

I wasn't mad but my pardner sure was!!!!  Just kidding. Come fish some Thursdays with us.

abick

jpick...

I'm actually giving the Thursday nighters some consideration.....I have back problems(mostly due to my wife)  >:( which keep me from being able to stand up and fish for very long at a time, that being said, those evening events might work out....I'm just an average fisherman but I do get lucky on occasion....so why not give it a try....I've never fished in a tournament before, got any tips on the mental preparation.....I can get worked up pretty easy....which is probably why I've never been in tournament before...
Anyways, I did hit Cross yesterday afternoon from 530 til dark 30.....caught 4( all in the slot)...caught all of them on a white spinnerbait when it was almost too dark to see!!!!

Cdawg - thanks for the info about Brewster's - somehow i missed it until just now.  I fished in that pocket my last outing and managed a couple of dinks if I recall correctly.

Abick welcome to the forum.  There are some Cross experts on here (Jpick is a good start) that have loads of information and helpful hints.  I've been fishing less than a year and have really benefited from what I've learned on this forum.  Of course, fishing the lake a lot and slowly getting to know it a little has helped a bunch, too.

And you're right about not wanting to land fish in front of people...I've actually lipped good fish, kept them in the water, and had my partner motor  a hundred yards or so away before pulling her out to see what I had just so guys nearby didn't know I'd had any luck in that spot.  Cross gets a LOT of action.

Howdy abick...welcome to UB..and really appreciate the reports...

I've got to get on Cross myself to get ready for the upcomming Cross TNT's...

The Cross TNT's are a blast and one of my favorite tourny's in the area...

BTW: I don't stand up hardly at all fishing so come on down... :)

You'll probably stay worked up on the TNT's.  Last year was my first year at fishing tourneys and the TNT.  Between the slots and the dinks, I stayed worked up but in the end found a pattern that consistently caught fish and really enjoyed it.

If it is on the west end, there will be someone in it. The first few tournaments, there are 60+ boats heading west. ;)
